Read to Learn

is that every third-grade student can read at grade level.

The Vision

Fewer than

25%

of Monterey County Third Graders can read at grade level. Third graders transition from “learning to read,” to, “reading to learn.” If they cannot read, they are disadvantaged from then on.

The Golden Ticket Foundation is a new nonprofit whose mission is to ensure children can read by the third grade.  Based in Monterey County, CA, we partner with local schools and school districts, nonprofits working in the literacy space and others to scale up early literacy efforts.

We are committed to promoting evidence-based, structured literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.

Our efforts include, but are not limited to, family and parent education, kindergarten readiness, incentives for students and teachers, tutoring and coaching programs, professional development for educators, and technical assistance for non-profits that share our mission.

Interested in Partnering?

We want to work with partners to create programs that encourage a love of reading in young kids. We welcome local elementary schools, as we believe joint efforts can significantly benefit children's lives. If you want to partner with us, please reach out for help with proposals and to discuss shared goals. Together, we can empower children through reading.
